We are elated by our partnership with Promise Ministries and The Crossing in offering a Christ Centered Dance Education Program that “Praises the Lord with dance,” (PSALM 149), and teaches students self-discipline, artistry, and encourages self-esteem, while deliberately discipling them to be leaders in ministry.
Studio 149 is a not-for-profit ministry that has served the Fort Wayne community, in addition to Ohio and surrounding cities, for the past 13 years. Artistic Director, Mrs. Tricia Graf, has over 30 years of dance experience in classical ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical, and pointe, with over 25 years in performance and teaching. She has worked with professional schools, in addition to various studios across the country while teaching Master Classes with Master Teachers from around the world. Mrs. Graf has a BA in General Studies with a Minor in Dance, with 3 years of education in Child Development and Elementary Education. Mrs. Graf is also an LTL at both the University of Saint Francis and IPFW where she teaches classes that include: Dance History, Ballet, Jazz Styles, Teaching Dance K-12, and Dance Appreciation. Mrs. Graf serves in ministry with her husband, Pastor Henry Graf and their two daughters here at Promise.
What sets Studio 149 apart from other dance programs is that we first have a love for Jesus. In that, we know that our Heavenly Father gives our identity to us, and that each student is a child of God, unconditionally loved, and has unique potential. We teach with a strong emphasis in classical ballet so that each genre of dance is supported with strong bones and muscles to prevent injury. All of our instructors teach a strict syllabus that allows students to mature through the arts at a pace that maintains a healthy spirit and body throughout their dance training. Studio 149 adheres to strong Christian principles and all aspects of dance education that is age appropriate, family safe, and strives for a lasting Kingdom influence.
Lastly, Studio 149 has a mentoring and teaching program for students to observe, student assist and student teach utilizing internships, so that they may learn to deliberately disciple their peers and become role models to our younger students. Many of our students grow in dance education and ministry, are discipled through the mentoring program, and return as Faculty Teachers and Board of Director Members after earning their degrees in their desired fields. We are currently welcoming back previous students that have been blessed with their own little ballerinas! We are certainly a Studio 149 Family in Christ!
